the puffer fish was really caught my attention...hi.
the puffer fish was really caught my attention as i'm doing my final year project research about the toxicity studies on marine organisms especially the puffer fish and Xanthid crabs (crabs that inhabit the coral reefs areas).

In Sarawak, Malaysia there's a place named Buntal where they held this so called Festival Buntal or Puffer fish Festival every year in order to promote local people to consume and taste the puffer fish. eventhough the fish is poisonous, there's still a specific way to remove the toxin in order to consume it.

research shows that the organ like liver and gonad has the high level of toxin. this toxin is thermostable, which means that it cannot be destroyed by cooking. however, by removing these organs, the fish is said to be safe to be consumed by human.

after all, there's still no reported human intoxication cases in Malaysia regarding to this organism.

cheers.The Heartbreakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06192488855009000152noreply@blogger.com
